It's like nothing I've ever encountered as far as it's content is concerned. Just this morning I went into a music store and somehow I ended up on the "musical instruction DVD" aisle only to become suddenly more grateful for the site's existence. For music+text combos about 90 minutes in length and with focus on a single style of music they were asking about 40$. Compare that you JamPlay's 4 instructors, each with hours of instruction and pages of printable reference material, encompassing all the essential genres for less than half that; I can't help but feel like I got a great deal.

I just joined the site like a day ago - and I feel the urge to send you a letter to describe my first impressions of the site.

It's simply amazing. The amount of work put into the site is incredible and the layout of the site is so well done. Granted I haven't started learning, but when everything is so well laid out for you it's hard not to get excited about learning more and more about guitar playing.

I have subscribed to one of these guitar learning sites online before. I was not impressed, only few of the lessons contained video clips and the teacher was way to dry for my taste. I think I visited the site like 2-3 times and simply gave up. I'm very assured that this won't be the case now!

The front-end of the site is very detailed and contains alot of content. Not enough to skip the bill - but has loads to get a guy like me excited about the program. I look forward to improve my skills here and be a part of this wonderful community you guys created.

Comments after a few days. Signing up was easy -- didn't have any problems. Actually, I put in my credit card number wrong at first, but it was all setup to try it again, so that went smoothly. I like that it went right to creating my profile and then right to the main page of jamplay -- felt like it was guiding me through things. The layout of the site is awesome: I instantly knew what I needed to click on to go where... In all honesty, I like everything about jamplay and can think of nothing I don't like The layout of the site makes complete sense 2 seconds after you see it. The video quality is high. I use the progress bar for the lessons to see where I left off and what I need to work more on. The few times I've thought "I could use this", I looked and it was there (like when I was wishing I had a diagram of a chord Steve was using, and it was there in the page below the video or in the supplemental section). Even the price seems great: $20 a month seems more then fair for what's offered.

I have had no technical difficulties whatsoever, (I'm using an imac 20" g5, and comcast broadband) and I am working my way through Steve's beginners lessons. Steve is excellent, and the video quality is very good. It will take me some time to get everything out of the video lessons, but I am having fun and enjoying the process.

It's even better than I expected. I put my guitar to one side while I watched through a few of Brad Henecke's lessons to see what was in store for me (I've watched up to lesson 20), and I must say that I'm very impressed. Even just watching Brad play has put plenty of fresh ideas into my head after many years of being 'stuck in a rut'. I'm really looking forward to going over the lessons again properly and rating myself for each lesson. I expect that when my monthly subscription runs out, I'll be renewing it with a yearly subscription, after all, learning guitar, no matter how experienced you are, is a never-ending process, so it stands to reason that my membership of Jamplay will be never ending.

The only complaint I have so far is that Brad Henecke won't send me that lovely guitar of his! (I've already got a Gibson SG Special...but hey...i'm a greedy bastard) :)

All in all...Jamplay rocks! So yeah, I'm very happy with it :)

I've been playing for 20 plus years, and most of what I've learned has been through studying books on my own. It's great to be able to watch you do it and explain everything so it's easy to get. I am one of 3 worship leaders at our church, which has about 800 to 1000 members, so I get people asking me for guitar lessons all the time. The problem is I don't have the time to help them. I'm totally impressed with what I've seen and tried so far, and it seems you've really put much thought and work into this. The website seems to be well tested and technically flawless. I want to take this opportunity to say hello and express my thanks to the JamPlay staff and community. This website is simply superb and I was so impressed I signed up for a year within minutes of my first visit. I picked up the guitar a few years ago but my study and practice was limited to about one year at that time. I was fortunate to try several guitars, including several electric and acoustic models from friends who play in a band, and ultimately settled on a Ovation Legend and a fingerpicking playing style.

As is probably the case for most, life just gets in the way sometimes and I let myself get out of a routine and while I would pick up the guitar almost daily to just play some chords, I wasn't progressing in skill. Eventually, the guitar ended up in a corner and has been there for the last 6+ months. Now that my two kids have been asking for guitars (ages 8 and 10), I have made a re-commitment to significantly improve my skill and knowledge of the guitar in 2008 and share this wonderful instrument with them.

Another goal of mine is to master six holiday songs by Christmas next year and record them on CD as a gift to family and friends, including a very challenging song (Cannon in D), which I may ask JamPlay to help teach me. I want to thank JamPlay for making available this fantastic tool to myself and other aspiring guitar players and for providing me the opportunity to chase my goals with a re-newed enthusiasm and motivation. Here's to 2008! =)

I'm have been trying to play guitar for about 1 yr. I have several guitar teaching programs, Learn and master guitar, Guitar method one, Guitar Magic III, to name a few. I have learned a lot from these programs especially Learn and master guitar. I practice two three hrs. daily. The repetition can be pretty boring. When I was surfing and found JamPlay I didn't expect much, There are so many sites that say they can teach you how to pay guitar, but I have found that you have to already know how play guitar to understand what they are talking about after a couple of lesson. I want to tell you I am really glad I tried JamPlay! I have taking lessons from Jim Deeming, and he has made the learning process so much more interesting and he gives practice information that I don't think you you will find anywhere else. I'm only on the twelfth lesson so far, and I have greater understanding how music works. I already knew how read music and know the notes on first position and some bar chords, haven't learned tab yet. I'm not trying to blow my horn about what I know, what I trying to say is with all practice and lessons I have in the past, it wasn't until I joined JamPlay and I started taking lessons from Jim Deeming that it all starting making sense, now I have got my enthusiasm back and can't wait to get to the next lesson. I hope the other instructors are as informative, when I get to them. I also like to say my guitar stays in tune, with minimum tweaking since I followed Jim Deeming instructions on how to string a guitar.

I just wanted to let you know that this is what I was looking for. I bought a starter guitar to try to learn and I bought some books but nothing made a connection until I found Jim Deeming at Jam Play. I had previously signed up for another web site and the guy could hardly talk because he was so nervous with the camera and he jumped all over the place. Nothing made sense to me and I was getting discouraged. The video quality was poor and it took forever to load. Good thing it didn't cost much because it's not worth much. The videos you have are outstanding and Jim is great! I am sure that all of the other instructors are just as good but, I chose to start with Jim because he has a "I want to teach you what I Love to do" appeal. I should be practicing but I just wanted to let you know that I like the site so far and say THANKS!

Good morning.

I am 60 years old. During the earlier years of my life I played various brass instruments from elementary school through college. I played with the Kansas City Youth Symphony, Starlight Theater Orchestra, and soloed for a season with the Kansas City Philharmonic Orchestra when I was a Junior in high school. I still hold my high school's record for the most blue ribbons at the State of Missouri solo music contests won by an individual.

I am not bragging here, but setting a frame of reference for my comments which follow. You can imagine from this pedigree how many hours I have spent in private lessons with professional musicians.

This brings me to the guitar side of life. My grandfather gave me an old Gibson steel string when I was 9. He taught me basic chords, to run right hand base with my thumb, and to pick out rhythm on the upper register strings with my three fingers. I never learned to read guitar music ! I just had a pretty good ear, and picked up what I could during the hay day of folk music with Peter, Paul and Mary, Smother's Brothers, et al.

As I got older, I got bored playing chords and singing to myself and playing background chords at church. I love guitar music, Celtic, Windham Hill, and I think Leo Kotkke is a guitar gift from another planet. In my personal playing I could never figure out how to add a real melody line like these guys do to my own playing. I took about a half dozen lessons each from about 4 different instructors to get this added to my playing style. No luck. So I put the thing in it's case and banished the whole works to the closet.

I haven't picked up the guitar for about 8 years. Through a series of coincidences I was presented with your web site and a classical guitar on Thanksgiving Day. I selected Jim Deeming and the Fingerstyle program. After about three days, I am with him through Phase 2, Lesson 5. I can even play the whole rip from the prelude to 'Leader of the Band' , following Jim's excellent tutoring. This is a musical miracle !

Can't say enough good things about Mr. Deeming, and about your program.

I am loving this website! I am getting exactly what I need here (scales, notes, chord structures and theory).
The instructors are skilled, patient, pleasant and knowledgeable and that is the atmosphere I need in order to learn as I am a creature of repetition.
I especially like the way y'all have things broken down into beginner/intermediate and advanced instead of just throwing it out there. The different style section are big plus too. I am eating the rock/metal lessons up with a spoon! :-)
Also the price is simply unbeatable!!

I was impressed at how organized and structured the lesson plans are. It makes it much easier for the student land in the right area according to his/her talent level. Also you have given us a variety of instructors who will teach the same things but will attack them from different angles which gives the student a more rounded base of learning and knowledge base.

I love the added features like the articles, tab sheets/chord charts, and the built in metronome. Also the downloadable material is a plus as well.

I just want to tell you that I am so impressed and pleased with the site...it has exceeded my expectations to this point. I have found that as an intermediate level player some other sites really only benefit beginners, but Jamplay offers plenty for all skill levels.

One of the features I have really enjoyed is the live Q&A. Especially Mark Lincoln's sessions. He really has a topic for the day and "teaches" something. He answers any questions people have as well, but he actually gets you playing things (rhythms, songs, arpeggios, etc.) on his Q&A sessions and he shows how to do things for beginners and then shows how to take the same thing and make it more advanced for those that are beyond the beginner stage. I think that approach helps spur people to ask questions or prompts questions because we actually work on something specific instead of it just being a "free-for-all" chat with no direction. Seriously, his live Q&A is like having a private lesson. I really hope those will continue!

I will tell anyone I know that is interested in learning guitar to join this site. I wish I would have had Jamplay when I was beginning to play! And I wish I would have found the site sooner!!!

My name is Craig and I just wanted to say hello and let you know a little about me.

I am a sixty-three year young individual, who has always wanted to play the guitar. The first experience with learning to play (twenty plus years ago) was the worst. The guitar I bought was an acoustic and it was a cheap one (I do not mean inexpensive).The strings over the fretboard were way too high to really play without excruciating pain to the finger tips. So much so I could only practice a couple of times a week. As a result I found myself discouraged and disappointed.

Learning to play has been a constant desire. Over the last year I have put allot of time into understanding the finer points of what a fine instrument needs in order to make learning and playing a joy. Last month I bit the bullet and bought a Fender Stratocaster American Standard, a Line-6 Amp and electronic tuner. I chose an electric because I feel it will give me the versatility to play the different types of music I enjoy.

During that early time period finding the sources for self learning was sparse to say the least. Not like today with the dawning of the Internet and the resources available to the novice player. After making my decision to learn again I started to look at the myriad of resources available online. Even with the abundant free information available I just could not find the detailed structured instruction I feel I need. It was beginning to think the only way I was going to get the lessons I wanted was with private lessons. During my search for lessons in my local area I happened across your web site. What a stroke of luck (or fate). After viewing your sample lessons I decided to go ahead and spend the $19.95 for a month of access.

The month of access I bought was way beyond my expectations. You have a wealth of information, styles, genre and quality available is outstanding. The instructors are excellent. My experience with your site has breathed new life in my desire to learn the guitar. With the instrument I now have I find myself able to practice every day without the pain of my first experience. Although I only put in about ten to fifteen minutes a session I practice many sessions a day. Every day I see advancement and I must say it is not just my effort that makes the difference, it's the superb instruction I have experienced with your instructors and the content of the instruction material.
Over the last month I have passed on your site to many friends who have the same desire to learn to play the guitar. I take them to your site through my access to show them firsthand the extent of instruction they can also enjoy.

There is no doubt I will be extending my membership when my current access expires to a yearly membership.

I don't know if you read my profile: I played the guitar on and off over the years, more or less playing rhythm. My niece asked me to teach her son some chords, I said yes but he would be better off taking lessons. Expense for this was a problem so I checked out the internet and found JamPlay. I LOVE IT!!! I love it so much that I have cancelled my memberships to some other sites and haven't visited a free membership site either. I am a 67 year old beginner. As you guys know, not everyone learns the same way or likes a particular teaching style. Jam Play has lots of beginning instructors to choose from. So far I LIKE THEM ALL!!. Amazing! Each one has a little different style and approach and so if I didn't follow a skill taught by one instructor, I just try another. IT'S GREAT! My favorites so far are; Steve Eulberg, Eve Goldberg and Orville Johnson. You guys have really got this thing dialed in...keep up the good work.

I have been playing the guitar for many years in various genres - folk, classical, and now leading worship, and Steve's teaching - even through the basics - is an inspiration. It is wonderful to be taught by someone who is clearly a gifted teacher. If only I had known about you years ago. I am certain that JamPlay's teaching methods will help me develop my playing skills and to become more creative.

I do not have any questions so far. I must say though, Jamplay is amazing. I'm using it to get back into guitar at my own schedule, and it lets me choose what i want to learn, tells me how hard it is, and teaches it so well. I managed to learn how to tap guitar solos with such a simple technique, and trained for a simple 20 mins with the exercises you provided. FYI I am truly enjoying the site! I think that it is extremely well done. I'm recently disabled and am committed to learning how to play the guitar after picking it up and putting it down 100 times over the last 40 years. I've spent the last year wandering the Internet and ordering DVD's with Guitar Lessons trying and trying to grasp this wonderful instrument, to no avail. Your site was like a Godsend. The lesson structure is GREAT. Over the years I would hit a brick wall such as barre chords or theory and quit. Your instructors make these subjects so crystal clear and give concise lessons in how to conquer these issues.

All I can say is JamPlay is fantastic and I recommend it to everyone I know!!

After being self taught for some years, I was struggling. I love JamPlay because it is easy to use, and the lessons are taught by lessons which build on each other in a way that is needed. Also I can choose a teacher that I think is more my style. This is not to take anything away from any other instructor because they are all very qualified. I started with Lisa Pursell, and love it because I'm a blues type of guy. In fact I caught her on a live chat the other day, and I was able to ask lesson questions. You can't beat that. JamPlay is fantastic. Everything works well. The Instructors I've met and I am doing lessons with are enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful. The lesson formats work well and love being able to write notes on the notes tab, I use the comments tab and the supplemental material. The Chat Sessions are wonderful and such a treat. And am using the forum as well as the "tools". The content of your site is the best! Another outstanding feature are the steps you have taken not to be like a lot of sites by making sure we know where everything is. Making sure we know where to cancel membership (can't imagine ever doing that). Making sure we know how to contact the staff. I have the sense that you not only care about what you do but care about your instructors and us - the membership. I like it.

I'm a rank beginner and had never found a course of instruction online that started with absolute basics, especially my instructor's insistence on my getting picking and rhythm down before learning a singe note or chord! Hey JamPlay Staff! I joined Jamplay originally last year... but due to family issues had to suspend my account (really did not want to)... Just joined again and have been IMMENSELY enjoying the lessons with my instructor... With so many instructors to choose from I gravitated to Jim Deeming, his easy going style and personality makes him a nature fit for me (and we are about the same age :) )... we have interacted via the Video chat and boards and I honestly feel like he is MY personal instructor... Something I would have never though possible via a medium such as this... I have dabbled in guitar for many years but have never been as focussed as I am now... I am learning TONS and progressing farther than I ever have.. For everything on offer, the 20 dollar subscription is well worth it :) My guitar and I have been strangers over the years, but thanks to JamPlay and Jim Deeming, we are fast becoming best friends!! Honestly I have tweeted and commented on FaceBook about JamPlay and how completely totally freaking awesome it is! You guys did an absolutely incredible job! The layout of your site is awesome, the group of instructors you put together are all amazing, and the interface and videos run perfectly and are just done so well! I literally learned more in a weekend about playing the guitar than I did in nearly a year of private guitar lessons. Not that my instructor was bad, he was great but it is the sheer access of info, everyone learns different for me I needed theory and in just a weekend of learning why chords were what they were, how scales work and why, how to build cords, etc., I have progressed so much. Also for me I always had such a hard time with my right hand and strumming patterns and frankly never got consistent or good info on various patterns, techniques on holding pick, exercises to improve and how certain patterns are used...it has helped me so much. I would like to say what a fantastic site you have I am having a ball. All my life I have wanted to learn an instrument but due to something in the way I learn just can't cope unless I can see a real-time demonstration step by step, with someone explaining what's going on and why? I have tried before but could never understand strumming...after on 40 minute lesson..I can do it and I can do different rhythms. All I've got to do now is to remember to eat and go to work and not spend all week on more lessons. Fantastic
